'Big Sam' Williams is a trombonist and band leader from New Orleans, Louisiana. He has been a member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and leads Big Sam's Funky Nation.

In his youth he studied with saxophonist Kidd Jordan and at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. In his teens, Williams was a founding member of the Stooges Brass Band and joined the Dirty Dozen, allowing him to play with Karl Denson, Dave Matthews, Widespread Panic, and James Brown. After one year with the Dirty Dozen, he began a side project broadening his musical ambitions. In 2006, he played with Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint on their album The River in Reverse and tour.

Big Sam's Funky Nation became his main band, which performed at Bonnaroo, Gathering of the Vibes, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Voodoo Music Experience, South By Southwest, and Austin City Limits. Big Sam's Funky Nation is primarily a funk and rock band that has elements of traditional jazz, contemporary jazz, acid jazz, dance, hard rock, and punk.

Trumpet sensation Maurice “Mobetta” Brown orbits simultaneously through three worlds: contemporary jazz, blues-rock and cutting-edge hip hop. He’s a mastermind as a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and producer. When Maurice picks up his horn, his soulful melodies soar into a rarefied space that uniquely marries be-bop to hip-hop and rock, producing his own distinctive sound.

Soft spoken by nature, South Florida-bred Roosevelt Collier does his hollering on the pedal steel guitar. Brought up in the "sacred steel" tradition of the House of God Church, Roosevelt built his reputation alongside his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, soul-shaking live performances. Seated front and center, "The Dr." leaves an indelible mark on listeners, flooring audiences with his lightning-fast slide work on the pedal steel.

Terence Higgins was born in New Orleans in 1970 and was raised in the suburb of old Algiers. He was introduced to the drums at a very young age by his great grandfather and he has been playing ever since. In high school he was one of two students chosen from the state of Louisiana to perform in the McDonald's All-American band, after high school he enrolled in music studies at Southern University, after a few years he decided to pursue a career in the music business. Specializing in New Orleans grooves and keeping in touch with the Crescent City's second line tradition and early New Orleans funk and R&B, he draws his influences from the legends of New Orleans drumming!

Jerry Henderson AKA Jblakk grew up in the church and was inspired by the melodic sounds of gospel music. He began playing drums and moved to the trumpet in grade school. He studied classical and jazz at Dillard High School Performing Arts School where he won many awards playing trumpet including the Gateway Festival Best Jazz Solo and Best Jazz Band. Jblakk picked up the bass guitar his senior of high school due to is love for the concept of groove. Jerry received his first bass guitar as a high school graduation gift and he quickly became beyond proficient emulating one of his heroes at the time, Jaco Pastorius.

Multiple Grammy Award winner Shaun Martin is well known for his work with Kirk Franklin and as a key member of Snarky Puppy, his creative stamp can be heard on projects with musical legends Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Fred Hammond, Tamela Mann, Kim Burrell, God’s Property, and more.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Shaun Martin’s prodigious gift was noticed and nurtured at an early age; he began playing the drums and piano at the age of four. His mother placed him under the tutelage of Carolyn Campbell, who taught him to read and write music. By the age of five he was playing the piano and organ at church.

The supportive and musically rich Dallas community continued to nurture him, and he it - he joined God’s Property in 1993, leading to a Grammy and a long time working relationship with Kirk Franklin. As a music major at the University of North Texas, he joined fellow students in the ‘soon’ to be award winning, chart topping jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy, joining them on the road and in the studio as they forged a new independent path to success.
